The Era of Regeneration is here!
But how do we invest in it?
For quite some time now, I have been working on developing a better understanding of the gap that exists for humans to take a more effective role in the regenerative processes of life on our planet. Yes, the Era of regeneration is here (a conception that is becoming “common ground”) and calling for more and more people, institutions, communities, and even high-level international groups to take action. However, rather than focusing on what we do around regeneration, from my perspective it is even more important to focus on how we invest in it.
In this short paper I intend to give new meaning to what we consider to be participation in regeneration, to drawing from a new source of understanding, to position ourselves as investment partners and to elevate our role as human beings, and thereby to contribute to higher level of effects in the evolution of life.
A story of what is possible
A little more than two and a half years ago, I was invited to participate in a think-tank for the economic development in the of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. The vision of the secretary on duty was of innovation to generate a different nature of economic development, one that would generate of great value for the state and with it the great challenge of generating an understanding of what was possible, not what we already know.
Throughout this period of work, we explored our possibilities for playing an active role in the transformation of the local economy. In doing so, we recognized the need to redefine the role of a human society in relationship to its economy.
